Common Questions

How much can really be accomplished by skincare? Should I just get a facelift?

Although there is no such thing as a “face lift in a jar,” certain products available today can

effectively prevent and reverse the signs of skin aging. A daily regimen needs to replenish or restore what’s lacking and prevent or interrupt aging processes. In addition to reinforcing skin’s defenses with a daily application of sunscreen, an anti-aging regimen should rejuvenate the skin’s surface by restoring elasticity, supporting natural collagen production, and decreasing the appearance of wrinkles.

What can I do about the loose skin that I have on my neck?

There is no reason you should stop your anti-aging skincare at your chin.  We recommend using the ANTI-AGE Regimen Plus as directed, but continue down your neck and even onto your chest. The four step ANTI-AGE Regimen Plus includes Gentle Exfoliating Wash, Hydrating Toner, Skin Protectant Cream SPF 15 Sunscreen and Night Recovery Cream. Working on multiple skin levels, each product builds on the last, addressing the key causes of aging skin by providing exfoliation, collagen stimulation, moisturization and protection from environmental aggressors. You can also use ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste twice per week to enhance cell turnover, improve skin tone and smooth texture.

I have deep creases on my chest, what can I use to get rid of them?

Creases down the center of the chest usually indicate that you’ve been sleeping on your side. When you sleep on your side, the weight of your body and gravity will cause the creases. We call these vertical lines down the center of your chest “sleep crush.” In addition to the formation of these specific lines, your sleep position can also deepen the natural lines of facial expression. This is especially apparent in the nasolabial folds (the lines that connect the nostrils to the outer corners of the mouth) and the marionette lines that extend from the lower lip to the chin.
You can train yourself to get off your side and sleep on your back. For lifelong side or facedown sleepers, this may feel uncomfortable at first, but you will get used to it. If you just can’t train yourself to stay on your back through the night, try the Therapeutica Sleeping Pillow, which is specially contoured to support the head and cradle the neck. We’ve had patients who have noticed fewer wrinkles after using this special pillow for only a week. We also recommend extending your anti-aging skincare to your face and chest.

I’m using the ANTI-AGE Regimen and would like to add a scrub. What do you suggest?

The Rodan + Fields ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste provides effective at-home exfoliation, signaling skin to naturally renew itself and increase collagen production, evening skin tone and smoothing skin texture for a more youthful-looking, radiant complexion.  This oil-free formula features Vitamins C and E and polishes skin with salt and sugar granules that melt away in contact with water. We recommend using ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste one to three times a week in place of the ANTI-AGE Gentle Exfoliating Wash. Directions for use:

Massage directly onto skin of face for 30 - 60 seconds; do not wet skin before use.  For gentler exfoliation, use on damp skin and slowly add water to lessen the intensity of the exfoliation.
