1. Your Stratum Corneum (the very top layer of the skin) becomes thicker, making skin look dull, flaky, and less radiant.
2. Fine lines and wrinkles become more pronounced.
3. As natural exfoliation slows, pores become clogged with
dead skin cells and appear larger and stretched out.
4. Skin becomes thinner and less firm as collagen breaks down and decreases in production.
5. Melanocyte production decreases, which results in skin pallor and uneven tone.
6. With the decrease in production of Langerhans cells, the skin’s immune system is compromised. Therefore, wounds heal more slowly and skin cancers may occur more often.
7. Skin becomes dryer as sebaceous glands grow larger but produce less oil.
8. Broken and dilated capillaries appear on skin as a result of a lifetime of sun exposure.
9. Uneven skin tone in the form of dark spots or hyperpigmentation increases, again because of the sun.
10. Skin bruises more easily as blood vessels weaken.
